Denis Hope Ltd have been trading in Rochdale for around 50 years and in that time have become synonymous with local fashion.
In 2009 they decided it was time to bring their site into the 21st century and create a quality online presence that matched their high-street reputation. Their existing site was a simple, static affair, and in addition to bringing it bang up-to-date, they wanted an eCommerce solution to complement their renowned in-store customer service.
THE RO SOLUTION
Online shopping sites for clothing are everywhere, and there are some big names to compete against, so the new site had to look good and be very search-engine friendly as well as be simple to administer.
The staff at Denis Hope were taking on the management of an online product catalogue in addition to running the store on a day-to-day basis, so it was imperative that they could easily keep the website updated with the minimum of effort.
We built a custom product catalogue and commerce system, with a great-looking clean design and some trendy interactive features. Using search-engine friendly techniques and automatically updating sitemap, it wasn't long before the site began to appear in Google searches for key phrases, and purchases are already being made on the site.
The site launched just before Christmas 2009, and coincided with Denis Hope winning the Rochdale Best Christmas Window award, which combined to bring a welcome ray of light in the otherwise gloomy economic situation around that time.
By the end of the first month, the site was appearing on the first page of Google's organic search results for a number of key phrases such as "lacuzzo", "desigual tunic", "olsen cardigan" and "geox mens coats", competing against established opposition and huge sites such as eBay.
